A clearer path.
A more thoughtful setup.

Placement matters as much as floor area. Begin with the affected space and the open paths within it.

01 · Locate

Start near activity.

Choose the dry, accessible indoor area where you have noticed pest activity or likely travel routes. Keep the unit on a stable shelf or suitable mounting point.

02 · Aim

Give sound room.

About 3–7 feet above the floor is useful when practical. Point the front slightly downward across open space. Move boxes, furniture and curtains out of the sound path.

03 · Continue

Leave it running.

Operate continuously and monitor fresh activity. Follow the RODAR® II installation instructions for setup and use.

Room by room

Choose the spot.
Consider what is in the way.

Attic

Face the open area.

Choose a dry, safely accessible position near signs of activity. Consider rafters, insulation and stored items when choosing the direction. Do not balance the unit on loose insulation or enter an unsafe attic.

Basement

Clear the shelf.

A clear shelf near the affected area can be more useful than a position hidden behind storage. Aim across accessible travel areas instead of into a stack of cartons.

Garage

Keep it protected.

Use a dry indoor position protected from weather, vehicle movement and accidental impact. Keep the path across the problem area clear. Avoid closed storage cabinets.

Understand coverage

Open space matters
more than a floor plan.

RODAR® II is rated for up to 3,000 square feet under favorable, open conditions. That reference does not mean sound reaches every room, floor or enclosed cavity.

Walls, closed doors and dense storage interrupt sound paths. Plan separated rooms and floors individually instead of choosing a unit count from your home’s total square footage alone.

A common placement question

Hearing activity inside a wall?

Customers also contact Micron about pests in walls. Identify the nearest accessible attic, basement, garage or room, along with likely entry or travel routes. Place the unit in that accessible area with a clear sound path.

Do not assume ultrasonic sound passes through solid walls or reaches a sealed wall cavity. For a recommendation based on your layout, call Micron at 800-456-0734.

Before you order

  • Note the affected room or space.
